21.
The Norliss Tapes (1973, USA)
Dan Curtis -

Excellent
No other filmmaker in history married the horror
genre with the medium of Television to greater effect than Dan Curtis.
22.
Crawlspace (1972, USA) John Newland
-

a must see
Do yourself a favor and track down Don’t
Be Afraid of the Dark, one of the best made for TV horror films
in history… Then check this bizarre little tale out that has Arthur Kennedy
caring for a schizo-hobo living in the crawlspace of his basement. Makes you
wonder why John Newland isn’t a more recognized name.
23.
Tropic Thunder (2008, USA) Ben
Stiller -

has redeeming facet [D-]
I’m not above this overblown and inane comedy, but I could
really give a shit about movie-biz parodies or any Hollywood self-loathing for
that matter. This is no different from what the host of SNL does every Saturday
and I believe those guys already made this movie 22 years ago and it was called
Three Amigos…
24.
Hot Moves (1985, USA) Jim Sotos
-

a must see
By no means a great movie, it’s simply
unfair to downplay anything this entertaining. Code Red DVD has packaged up
a little time-capsule of joy with this forgotten 80’s sex farce.
26.
Dead Set (2008, UK) Yann Demange
& Charlie Brooker [5 episode mini-series] -

a must see
Ripping off 28 Days Later
in every way imaginable, this zombie mini-series takes the outbreak and drops
it right in the middle of the latest season of Big Brother,
and the results trump the overrated Danny Boyle film in just about every way
imaginable. Possibly the horror TV event of the year, even if nobody saw it…
27.
Executive Koala (2005, Japan)
Minoru Kawasaki -

has redeeming
facet [D]
I’m down with giant koala bears in the
workplace, but it takes more than that off-the-wall premise to make a film like
this work. Jokes perhaps?
28. Witchblade -
[Episodes 1-6] (2006, Japan, TV) Yoshimitsu Ôhashi - average
29.
Priceless (2006, France) Pierre
Salvadori
[filed in 2007 based on festival screenings] -
a must see [B-]
A very pleasant throwback film that, while being
nothing major, puts into perspective just how bad the romantic comedies in American
cinema are these days. Loads of winks to sex-farces past make this one of the
best modern Lubitsch films in years.
31. The Twilight Zone SSN1.25 - "People Are
Alike All Over" (1960, USA, TV) Mitchell Leisen - Highly

Wish" (1960, USA, TV) Ron Winston - Not recommended

35. The Twilight Zone SSN1.29 - "Nightmare as
a Child" (1960, USA, TV) Alvin Ganzer - Not recommended
36.
Baraka (1992, USA) Ron Fricke
-

worth seeing
aka Blu-ray player demo disc.
37. Presto (2008, USA)
Doug Sweetland [short] - average
The sort of thing that tends to mop up in the
Best Animated Short category of the Academy Awards that has always come across
to me as middling at best.
